The history of St Mary's University College dates back to 1900 when the Dominican Sisters opened the St Mary's Training College on the present Falls Road campus at Belfast, Northern Ireland. The College is academically integrated with Queen's University Belfast and its degree courses are all Queen's awards. Currently around 1,000 full-time and 300 part-time students are enrolled at St Mary's. The College is composed of two faculties - the Faculty of Education and the Faculty of Liberal Arts, which award undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.

Belfast City Airport is situated close to the centre of the city. The entrance to the City Airport is on the Sydenham By-Pass (A2 Belfast/Bangor Road) The A2 duel carriageway is one of the main arteries into the centre of Belfast and leads directly to the motorway network. Arriving passengers will find taxis available immediately outside the Arrivals Terminal. 6 car hire companies have offices within the Baggage Reclaim Hall. The city Airport is linked to Sydenham Railway Halt by a footbridge. A regular rail service takes passengers to Belfast Central Station where you can get connections to Dublin or go on to Great Victoria Street Station in the commercial heart of Belfast. A new and much enlarged Arrivals Terminal was opened in July 1997 and contains Car Hire desks, the Airport Information Desk, Cafe, waiting area, viewing gallery, public seating, payphones and toilet facilities. The short Stay Car Park is situated immediately adjacent to the terminal building. Those parking for more than a few hours will find the Long Stay Carpark to be reasonably priced and served by a regular courtesy bus service.
