Rutland Water Nature Reserve - Landmark

Rutland Water Nature Reserve - Landmark

Distance 2.2 miles (3.52 km)
When the reservoir was constructed, various areas were set aside to cater for different types of leisure pursuits. At the eastern end, sailing and sailboarding are popular, while in the central section trout fishing takes place, both from boats and from the shore. The western part of the reservoir is set aside as a nature reserve, but throughout the year large numbers of waterbirds can be seen in all sections of the reservoir.

Set in 260 acres of picturesque Rutland countryside, Greetham Valley has been carefully developed from traditional undulating farmland to create three diverse and interesting courses, each with their own unique challenges for every level of player. Lakes, ponds, a winding stream, mature woods and a naturally contoured landscape of scenic valleys and rolling hills make Greetham Valley a beautiful environment, home to an abundance of wildlife and the perfect setting for your sporting enjoyment.

Rutland County Golf Club - Stamford - Golf

Distance 4.24 miles (6.79 km)
Situated in Rutland, England's smallest county, Rutland County Golf Club is a course in the modern design ethos. From the back tees, Rutland County measures a healthy 6401 yards, the yellow tees offer a challenging 5922 yards whilst the ladies face a testing 5277 yards. The course begins by heading east alongside the site of the lost medieval village of Hardwick and skirts the boundary of the disused airfield RAF Woolfox Lodge. During construction many practice bombs were unearthed, indeed in the old farming days "the farm workers harvested bombs like they were potatoes!"
