Carus Green Golf Club - Kendal - Golf

Carus Green Golf Club - Kendal - Golf

Distance 0.15 miles (0.24 km)
Carus is renowned for many things but above all it is the friendliness of the club that keeps people coming back. As the club grows, the course improves, the facilities advance and the driving range is built, the key constant for us is that the welcome for members and visitors alike is as warm as ever. Come find out for yourself. Beautifully situated par 70 parkland course with stunning views of the surrounding countryside. At times testing with the rivers kent, mint and sprint meandering through the course, it offers challenges to every level of golfer.

Abbot Hall Art Gallery - Exhibition

Abbot Hall Art Gallery - Exhibition

Distance 1.52 miles (2.43 km)
Abbot Hall Art Gallery is a museum and gallery in Kendal, England. Abbot Hall was built in 1759 by Colonel George Wilson, the second son of Daniel Wilson of Dallam Tower, a large house and country estate nearby. It was built on the site of the old Abbot’s Hall, roughly where the museum is today. Before the Dissolution of the Monasteries this was where the Abbot or his representative would stay when visiting from the mother house of St Mary's Abbey, York.[1] The architect is unknown. During the early twentieth century the Grade I listed building was dilapidated and has been restored as an art gallery.

Sizergh Castle - Castle

Sizergh Castle - Castle

Distance 4.32 miles (6.91 km)
The Strickland family has lived at Sizergh for more than 750 years, and it remains their home today. Set in large, beautifully landscaped gardens and based on an impressive 14th Century solar tower, Sizergh was extended in Tudor times. While a subject of much historical debate, the 14th century four story structure has been identified as a Solar Tower, not a pele tower as previously believed. The romantic fortified mansion contains some of the finest Elizabethan carved overmantels in the country, as well as a collection of good English and French furniture and family portraits. Of particular interest are the large gardens surrounding the Castle, a notable feature being the National Trust’s largest limestone rock garden, including part of the National Collection of Hardy Ferns. Enchanting wildflower and water gardens also add to the charm of this elegant estate.
