By road from London: Take m25, m3, m27 and a31 to Ringwood. From follow the a338 to the Bournemouth West Roundabout. From here take the first exit and follow the brown signs to the bic (Bournemouth International Centre). The Royal Exeter car park is directly off the roundabout at the bottom of Priory Road, opposite the bic. From West: a35, a31 & a338 From North: a34, m3, m27, a31, a338 By rail & coach: Bournemouth Travel Interchange. Trains from Waterloo at 30 minutes past the hour with a 1 hour 40 minute journey. Train main line links to the North & Scotland Coaches hourly from London Victoria. By air: Bournemouth (Hurn) regular national & European services. Approx 25 minute taxi journey to the hotel.

Bournemouth became the popular holiday resort it is today when the eminent physician Dr Granville recommended its mild sunny climate for those with poor health. Until 1811 the area had been undeveloped until the local squire built a summer house there (where the Exeter hotel now stands). His investment was the beginning of a massive expansion of the resort and the town's population grew from only 695 to 59,000 in only 50 years. Few resorts can match its six miles of sandy beaches and magnificent 100 foot cliffs. Lifts and walks connect the beaches with the streets and there is an excellent range of sporting venues, cinemas, theatres, shops and restaurants.
