Minster Walk Guest House - Fantastic Location
Stopped here just the one night, great central location , everything within easy walking distance. Handy having a pub right next door that serves great Tapas and Pizzas. Lovely quiet location. Very helpful owners / staff. Happy to recommend.

Extremely Satisfied
Quite easily the nicest guesthouse/hotel we’ve ever stayed in, had the standard double room which was more than large enough, lovely array of hot drink making supplies and loved the complimentary toiletries in the en-suite roomy bathroom. The chocolates on the towels and full-sized bath sheets were a wonderful special touch but best of all was the snug with lovely cake on offer! Well situated in the centre of town, free provision of parking and delicious, generous breakfast. Extremely friendly and welcoming, we will never stay elsewhere when we return to York! Thank you!

Delightful
We really enjoyed our stay at Minster Walk. It was a last minute booking for us and we were very pleased to find such a charming place. It has an excellent location and is convenient for exploring the city on foot fortified by a well cooked breakfast. The staff go out of their way to be friendly and helpful and supply a personal touch missing from the corporate hotels. The provision of cake and coffee is welcome. The room at the "top of the shop" was comfortable and well appointed.( I would advise some hooks on the back of the bathroom door though and a bedside lamp would be good)I look forward to another stay in the future.

Smart And Friendly
The current owners have had the place for about a year and have put a lot of effort making Minster Wallk a beautifully appointed Guest House with a boutique feel.

I had to visit York at short notice and booked direct, having read a few reviews of this and a few other nearby hotels. I got a personal email reply from Ruth, one of the owners, with all the information I could need - the personal touch was done well throughout. This was part of a friendly feel, which can only really be achieved in a small establishment.

Lovely room and lovely breakfast - latter free to direct bookers.

I would definitely visit again.

Lovely Stay
No complaints at all from this first stay at Minster Walk. Very well organised place. Room was spotless and the interior design was modern, but in keeping with the style of the property. Owners, Rob and Lisa, were extremely friendly and helpful. Due to working overseas, I have travelled extensively across the Middle East and SE Asia. I’ve stayed in some nice places over the years but it’s not often that you stay in a place that has got everything right. Rob and Lisa seem to have done that. I complaints from me at all. I will visit again.

Festive Christmas Stay At Minster Walk
Another welcoming and very comfortable stay for the second year in a row, my sister and I always visit York together for a pre-Christmas treat and last minute shopping, last year being the first that we decided to stay overnight and discovered Minster walk. Beautiful clean and comfortable rooms with a very welcome coffee and cake lounge, a lovely surprise to find sherry and mince pies in our room. great location close to the abbey gardens and York minster, waking up to the sound of the abbey bells and a delicious breakfast ! Will most definitely be booking for 2019 !

Visiting York? Want Accomodation? Book Here!
We are a middle/late aged couple with a daughter aged 20. Wanting to be centrally located but still quiet, we booked the family room 6 for one night wanting to take in the sights and do some Christmas Shopping. This place fitted the bill,

its very clean, comfortable and with friendly staff. The beds were comfortable and spotless. The extras inclusive of a welcome drink of sherry and mince pie left in the room added a little extra plus help yourself to cake and a drink downstairs. The pre ordered breakfast was good but as a personal choice we would have liked some fruit and natural yoghurt as well. However, there were tubs of fruited yoghurt. The entrance door was by a secure keypad but the number was not put on our welcome letter so we got locked out and had to ring to get the keypad number. Perhaps this could be included in future within their welcome letter pro forma template? Overall an extremely impressive thumbs up and recommendation to all.

High Quality Guest House.
Friendly and well run Guest House house in ideal location in York. A pleasant lounge (home baked cake and fresh milk available) on the ground floor and idiosyncratic bedrooms all with good quality duvets, towels and toiletries. A reliable rest station.

Absolutely Fantastic
I was looking for a little last minute getaway in York, when I stumbled across this guest house online. The pictures caught my eye so I had a browse and I was very impressed. Every review is a positive and I can see why.

The accommodation is beautiful and definitely what we both needed, i love how the rooms have been designed especially the downstairs one. It’s full of tea, coffee, water and homemade cakes for you to indulge in. It’s so peaceful and relaxing, the perfect break from everyday life. The breakfast was delicious and we had a good natter with the lady who is the chef. We stayed in a double room on this occasion and it was perfect, we are hoping to return again in the next 3 weeks, but this time will be requesting to try out the other king size rooms as we’ve heard these are beautiful too. Highly recommend, you’ll have a great stay here. Can’t wait to visit again.

A Little Gem Right In The City Centre
Warm friendly staff, spotlessly clean rooms with comfy beds and excellent facilities. The coffee and cake lounge is a very nice touch and we enjoyed sampling the homemade cake after a day out exploring the city.

We booked the standard double room as a last minute break and were delighted to be given a free upgrade to a super king room!

Breakfast was basic but adequate and tasty! We booked through booking.com so breakfast was extra but if you book direct with the guesthouse it comes included in the price so it is acceptable that it’s basic.

We feel our stay was a bargain. A lovely place to stay and only a 5 minute walk to York Minster. We were in room 2 and had a view of it from the window.

Would definitely stay here again next time we visit York and would not hesitate to recommend it!!

In 1068, William the Conqueror built a motte-and-bailey castle on the present site of Cliffords Tower in York, to strengthen his military presence in the north.
