Loving Number 43
We arrived after a long journey to a warm welcome from Lesley. Although they had the decorators in Lesley made sure that it didn't affect our stay at all. In fact they upgraded our room so we could have breakfast in our suite. Having a gluten free diet Lesley had everything in hand and breakfast was delicious with my dietary requirements catered for. The bed was very comfortable, the view from the room was amazing. We loved our stay at Number 43.

Breakfast could be taken in our suit overlooking the estuary or in the dining room with more choices then we could have hoped for served personally and cooked by an expert.

Can’t fault any of it and highly recomend staying longer, we will next time.

Amazing Experience
Perfect from the greeting when we arrived. After a brief discussion regarding house rules we were shown to Suite 2. The room was spotless, homemade flapjack was awaiting us. Excellent quality tea/coffee and a well stocked minibar were also available. We had ordered a food platter (well advised) and some extra white wine and a bottle of champagne which was ready chilled.

The bed is ridiculously comfortable and it makes getting out of bed hard!. The double bath with views of the Kent estuary is a delight. We waited each day for the siren so that we could see the tidal bore make it's way up the estuary (how sad are we).

Comfortable dressing gowns, underfloor heating in the bathroom and a separate beautiful shower. REN products are an added bonus - some bubble bath would be the icing on the cake.

Breakfast in our room was extensive and lovely wth a great choice.

Lesley was always available at the end of the phone if needed. She was was welcoming, amenable and very easy to chat to. She made us feel as though her was our house

No. 43 is in an ideal location for visiting the South Lakes and the Morecambe area. There are plenty of places to eat in Arnisde (although a lot shut at 5pm (especially on a Monday) so be careful).

We would wholeheartedly recommend staying here and I am sure that we will be back again in the not too distant future.

Excellent Short Break.
We stayed for 3 nights at No 43 in Jan 2017, and couldn't have wished for a better place to be. We would give Lesley 5 stars for everything, - the rooms, the wonderful breakfast and the location. Definitely more of a boutique guesthouse than a B&B.

Lots of walking trails up & over the Knott to Silverdale. Trains across the bay to Grange & Ulverston etc. And only a short drive up into the Lakes.

Two pubs in the village for drinks and evening meals ( the Albion is just across the road). Would heartily recommend No43 to anyone thinking of staying in this area, and look forward to returning in the near future.

A Precious Jewel
It is very easy to see why Number 43 is so well received and respected; given its location - with views across Morcambe Bay with its spectacular sunsets almost commonplace - the accommodation could be of a regular standard and still be considered very good. However, the standards in Number 43 are so incredibly high, with attention to the smallest detail being high on our thumbs-up list; from the exclusive toiletries in the beautifully appointed en suite to the jug of fresh milk in the silent mini-bar fridge; from the very high quality of decoration and furnishings to the infinitely customisable and always freshly prepared breakfasts, not to mention the incredibly warm and friendly staff for whom nothing is too much trouble. We totally enjoyed our stay and our only complaint was that the time there went by too quickly - and we're sure if it had been in their powers the staff would certainly have sorted that for us too! A real jewel of an establishment !

Great Find
A last minute booking as an additional day for our short break brought us to Number 43. We found an ultra clean Guesthouse starting at the front door and not disappointing when shown to our bedroom. Every nook and cranny was spotless (we checked). Our bed was amongst the most comfortable we've experienced on our travels which provided an excellent nights sleep. Breakfast the following morning is of a quality to which many other establishments would be well advised to aspire. All in all a well worth the money Guesthouse. Highly recommend.

No.43 was recommended and we booked last minute. Me and my husband wanted somewhere where we could relax and hibernate - suite 2 was perfect for doing just that. The bath overlooking the estuary is breathtaking! Breakfast in bed was amazing also. Leslie was very accommodating and nothing was too much trouble! We highly recommend No.43! Hope to see you again! Enjoyable Stay At No. 43 Arnside
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at no.43 which really lived up to our expectations. A warm and friendly welcome and attentive service from Lesley and her team made for a relaxing break in the run up to Christmas. Will heartily recommend and hope to return.

Bliss By The Sea
You really do need to make that extra little effort when booking, and get the bay / river view. It's a long time since I have felt so relaxed and with a tidal river there is something to fascinate all day long. Breakfast is uo there with the best and all the products used are of high quality. Front steps could do with better lighting, though, as they are a nightmare to negotiate in the dark.

Response from Hotel
Hello David

Thank you for your lovely review we do hope to see you again, and just to let you know we are having a completely new outdoor lighting system as, after 10 years the rain this autumn caused problems.

Happy New Year

Just Lovely!
Had a very restful, quiet and comfortable stay. Room was delightful with amazing views. Compliments to the owners for the attention to detail and lovely small touches - products in the bathroom, homemade flapjack and complimentary sherry in the room. The fluffy robes were far superior to the basic white robes normally provided in these sort of establishments. Breakfast was excellent. We will definitely stay again.

Autumn Time
We both loved the place. Fantastic spot and views. One afternoon and evening we had the place to ourselves - very indulgent! Well looked after as well.

Cons... Having to leave obviously ...

Note: there's not a lot to do in Arnside but this I perfect for us .... It really is an AONB

Set on the Promenade at Arnside, No43 overlooks a fine vista across the River Kent Estuary. Sunrise and Sunset presented an amazing array of colours and tones which were the backcloth to our stay.

The accomodation was imposing with high ceiling hallway leading into the lounge and dining area. The whole building was decorated to high standards. Very light and airy and a great sense of refinement.

The Suite was well fitted out with quality furnishings. It was comfortable in a grand sort of way meeting exactly our requirements for a comfy and warm few days break. We felt cossetted and cared for.

For afficionadoes of good food the treat was the breakfast - the many course breakfast. All prepared using locally resourced supplies I was seriously challenged as to which main to select. I even considered having all at once....but found restraint from somewhere.

Our intention was to chill. We had no intentions of fellwalking or site seeing - merely checked out a tea/cake shop for a light lunch then out to the pub for the evening.

It was good!!

Thank you so much for such a lovely review. it was fun meeting you both and I hope that your water supply has settled down. I am really looking forward to seeing your Arnside 'favorite' photographs. Take care and keep warm Kindest Regards Lesley

A Real Treat!
I chose to take my 85 year old mother for a short break at number 45 in November, this was a brilliant choice. Lesley upgraded my mum to a room with a fantastic view, I was next door in a lovely warm comfortable retreat. The views are remarkable, whatever the weather (and we had the full range), Lesley is an excellent host, thank you.

Holker Hall and Gardens - Grange-over-Sands - Historical Houses

Holker Hall and Gardens - Grange-over-Sands - Historical Houses

Distance 6 miles (9.6 km)
Holker is a Norse word, which can be translated as a rising in marshy land. Although the origins are lost in the mists of time, the earliest records of a house on the present site date back to the beginning of the sixteenth century. Only a short distance from the sea, Holker Hall is magnificently situated and is set in exceptionally beautiful countryside with gardens merging into parkland, with hills on one side and the expanse of Morecambe Bay. Despite its grand scale, this handsome rose coloured neo-Elizabethan mansion and its Gardens provide a soft and gentle contrast to the ruggedness of the Lakeland countryside to the north. The record reveals that Lord Cavendishs ancestors felt that for them Holker was more desirable, more favoured by Providence and more enhanced with natural beauty than any other place on earth.
