Very Friendly Hotel
A very nice hotel in a 400 year old building. Staff were very friendly, food was excellent and the room comfortable. Only bit of advice is that the car park is very small and it's best to turn your car around while there is room to facilitate leaving in the morning.

Short Stay
The location is good, situated between Bristol and Bath. This hotel is quaint with quite small rooms and small shower room. The staff are lovely. Friendly and helpful. The breakfast is good. The only sitting area is the bar but this keeps pub hours and is shut at 11pm. So there is nowhere to sit and talk after this room is closed.

Poor
This hotel is dated, but not in a good way. For a 3 star hotel with the rooms as they are we would expect to pay around £60 not £105. Vastly overpriced. Despite phoning two weeks before hand and telling them I was vegan, there was no soya or almond milk available. Woken up at 8am on a Sunday morning by people cleaning the rooms, hovering, clanging glasses. Macerater toilet making an awful noise every 30 minutes. Staff were nice and friendly. All in all definitely not worth the money. Would not go back or recommend.

Response from Hotel
Hello Tim,

We are sad to hear you didn\'t enjoy your stay with us last weekend.

I have spoken to the members of staff that were in during the weekend, and they were aware of you\'re dietary requirements but only as a vegetarian.

This was from check in, when you asked for vegetarian sausages. We were unaware that you were in fact vegan, otherwise we would of ensured there was soya/almond milk within the hotel.

Housekeeping were working in two different rooms around 08.00am until 08.45am and these rooms are in different buildings of the hotel, but I do apologize if they disturbed you in any way.

We do hope you reconsider and stay with us again in the future.

Apologizes for the inconvenience regarding our wifi, we do try our best but sometimes due to the age of the building the wifi does play up.

Great Value
Stayed at the manor house last weekend, staff very friendly, relaxed atmosphere very nice breakfast not just tradition English on offer but smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, Eggs Benedict, Eggs Royale for no extra cost. Rooms were clean and tidy. Downside was only 4ft 6in beds available, would probably go for a twin next time. We had a prior engagement and there did not eat in the restaurant that evening, but looking at the menu and going on the standard of the breakfast we will definitely try the restaurant on our next visit.

Good Morning Mr Gates. Whilst our breakfast times are stated on Booking.com given the adverse weather conditions we faced during your stay all of my staff walked to work to ensure normal service was offered to our guests I am sorry this meant we were unable to offer a full breakfast before the advertised time. Wifi here at the hotel can be an issue from time to time especially with the thick stone walls, had we been aware of an issue we would have been more than happy to have reset the system which sometimes is all that is needed.

Welcoming And Comfortable
Such wonderful people staff this small hotel. Arriving late , I called ahead and was given instructions for getting into the hotel. Once I arrived and had written note with full instructions and a key to get to my room. The most comfortable bed awaited . The rooms would not be to everyone's taste as they are in keeping with an older property. I was at 1st disappointed to find I only had a bath( in the largest bathroom ever) but once I dropped myself into the novelty of deep hot water I was in heaven !!

All spaces behind were taken upon my return on night 2, however there was one car park around the side off the street available..under a light. We stayed for two nights in December 2016. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent. We had a room in the eves and it was a large and pleasant room with a large bathroom. The stairs were a little steep for me. There was an electric radiator in the room to supplement the heating and it was necessary to use it. A Pleasant Evening
Had a fantastic meal, with great beer in the bar. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Sadly I had to leave by 7.30, so no breakfast available, and the bed was very uncomfortable. A charming place, that I would eat/drink at willingly, but please change the mattresses!

Dear Mr Lancaster Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay with us, pleased to hear you enjoyed dinner I am a little concerned that you were unable to enjoy breakfast as a member of staff was on duty from 6.50 to ensure the early bird guests don\'t have to leave with empty tummies !! I will look into the mattress situation, as this is a memory foam mattress which is only a few years old. We hope to see you again . Jane

A Pleasing One-off.
Being clean and comfortable is always a good start for a hotel but the Old Manor House is more than that; it has an individuality that lifts it above the bland and predictable corporate chains. Recommended.

Full Of Charm And Character
We have just returned from a 2 night stay at the Old Manor House at Keynsham( between Bath and Bristol). The hotel was full of character. The room was small but adequate had every thing you needed including WFI. All the staff were friendly and helpful couldn't do enough for us,the food was excellent especially the breakfast, the only fault with the hotel was the parking very limited space, but this would not deter us from returning .

Old Manor Hotel
The hotel is full of character as it is very old. My room was of a good standard and very comfortable. However, as with all old buildings there were things which didn't work and as the top sash window would not close it rattled a lot during the very windy night. Plastic water glasses were rather a let down because generally the standard was high and tasteful. Breakfast fruit salad was just rather hard sliced apple - perhaps the more interesting fruit had already been taken, and the orange juice very watery, but as I only stayed one night it was fine, and all the staff were friendly and helpful I must say. I did not have dinner at the hotel as I was going to a function.

Thank you for your comments, our apologies for the issues you had. Maintenance will be done to the broken window fixtures within the room. Regarding the fruit salad at breakfast, there is normally a selection of 5-6 different fruits. The fruit salad may of been running low, the breakfast waitress on duty would of been more than happy to bring some more out for you. We hope you had a lovely evening and that you stay with us again. - Georgia

Lovely Hotel - Good Food
Stayed for 1 night on business. Room was clean and bed comfortable. Food was also very nice. Had a lunch meeting the next day which was also very good, although the music in the bar a little loud for that purpose.

Mixed
We arrived at the hotel on a Sunday evening, expecting to make use of the restaurant and bar, but we were surprised to discover that the hotel is 'closed' on Sunday evenings. We had to then walk into town, with an elderly relative, to find a suitable place to eat. It was quite strange to return to what appeared to be, a deserted hotel, to spend the night. In the morning, breakfast was very good, and a good service. Later, the food in the bar was most enjoyable with very pleasant staff. The room was very comfortable and I would have no complaints other than the most horrible of smells in the en suite. As we had booked two rooms I was able to determine that it wasn't just a one off. It appeared to be due to the mascerator unit and meant using the facilities was most unpleasant. Another slight issue was parking. We managed to get a space by luck it seemed but if the hotel had been busier then I don't know where we would have parked. A shame, as I would have recommended this hotel as a nice place to stop but the bathroom issue is one that certainly needs to be overcome.

The Old Manor House Hotel
The room was lovely, the evening meal was wonderful and the staff were friendly. However it really was not fair to put me (or anyone!) in a room right above a large function, with loud banging music until midnight. I was there on my birthday to relax and have an early night before an important course the next day. But the very loud noise from the party kept me awake until over midnight and I could not relax at all. I really would not have booked this room if I knew how annoying it would be. There was no choice to be moved to another room as the hotel was full. I did ask if the music could be turned down abit, and it was - thank you Emily!

Clare Hancock - 29th May, 2016

Response from Hotel
Hi Clare, thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I am sorry that the party going on in our function room kept you awake. We do always make sure that the music stops at midnight, and we are happy to ask the DJ to turn the music down as you know. If we could have moved you into a different room, we would have done. Incidentally, if you recall, you had originally booked a standard double room, and this would have been even worse for you as it is directly above the function room; the four poster room that we upgraded you to free of charge is actually a bit quieter. I do hope that you will stay with us again, and if you do, please mention when booking if you need to be up early and require a quiet room, as we cannot always anticipate our guests\' plans - if we are armed with information such as this in advance, it makes it easier for us to decide who goes in which room. Once again thank you for your review and I look forward to seeing you in the future. Emily

Another Pleasant Stay
Having stayed here before in September last year, we requested and were allocated the same room as before. Again, as before, we found the staff extremely helpful, especially when my wife needed emergency dental treatment. Having asked for the name of a local dentist, the task was taken out of our hands by the staff and an appointment booked for us. This was, for us, a huge relief as it was a Bank Holiday Friday when this occurred and we were concerned about getting treatment.

In all other respects, the staff were universally helpful and could not be faulted.

The room, as before, was comfortable and spacious with a walk-in shower, much easier for my use with mobility difficulties. The breakfasts were cooked individually and were, invariably, tasty.

Altogether then, another most enjoyable stay.

Cosy Cottage Experience
This was our second visit to the above hotel, and on this occasion we stayed in the Cottage(Room 10). As before the service throughout our stay was excellent and the hotel and bedroom were spotless.

We even left something in our room and we were contacted by telephone that afternoon as soon as we arrived home.

We would definitely stay at the Old Manor again, and enjoyed our experience of room ten. To enhance a further visit to Room 10, may we, respectfully, suggest a bedside set of drawers and reading lamp on both side of the very comfortable bed.

A Great Visit
A lovely welcome to a fabulous hotel. Nice people, a superb restaurant and a unique atmosphere. The the whole place drips character and is worth every penny of the very reasonable cost. I felt very looked after. The car park access and exit was slightly tricky and unfortunately, due to the positioning of a small (and rather pointless) stubby concrete pillar, my new Mercedes sustained serious damage as I left the following morning. They need to do something about that. It was the only blot on an otherwise perfect score and I WILL be coming back. I would highly recommend the Old Manor House!

Greeted by a friendly member of staff who showed me to my room and explained hotel facilities. Had a refreshing and needed drink in the ample bar area and then had a wonderful meal (no booking, just accommodated by the hotel - thanks!) in the restaurant area. Leaving early Sunday morning so member of staff arranged for a breakfast tray. Wonderful touch. Great night's sleep too!

A Pleasant Couple Of Nights Stay
Being on a fact finding visit regarding an Uncle of mine we stayed here and were more than satisfied.

The Staff were very helpful even the Cleaning Ladies who because of our disabilities all offered to take our luggage down the stairs when leaving.

We had the four poster bedroom, plenty of room, though the shower area was a bit constrained for us having mobility problems. Though it was no great problem.

It's oldie worldlier charm was impressive. The furniture and paintings gave it more authenticity.

The food was more than average and you were well attended to.

The outside of the building looks really impressive. We are more than happy to recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay near Bath and Bristol.

An Enjoyable Stay
We spent 6 nights here and thoroughly enjoyed the friendly atmosphere and helpful staff. Our room, on the first floor, was spacious and the bathroom had a walk-in shower. With two single beds, the room was more then adequate for our requirements. The only downside was the traffic noise from the main road outside our window. While very adequately double glazed for sound when the windows were shut, once open for fresh air overnight, the traffic noise became quite noticeable.

Breakfast each morning provided a good selection of "main courses" while cereals, fresh fruit salad and a choice of juices gave an adequate selection of "starters". Coffee with copious top-ups rounded off the breakfast experience.

A small private car park was available at the rear of the hotel. Luckily, our hire car was of reasonable proportions. I am not sure that I would have enjoyed trying to park a large vehicle in the available space!

The hotel's location was very convenient and only 100 metres from the town's main supermarket, a Tescos and three or four hundred metres from the main High Street shopping area.

All-in-all, this was a most enjoyable stay made more so by the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. With family living nearby, we shall definitely be back again.

Good Value, Great Service
My first stay. It's a lovely building in a great location. I cannot fault the friendly and helpful service. Breakfast was good. On the negative side the car park is small and difficult to access. It took me 15 minutes to get in as I had to do a 35 point turn to squeeze into the last space, each time I had to get out and check my clearance. The wifi didn't reach my room. These are symptoms of an ancient building. I would stay again.

Excellent Comfortable Stay
I found and stayed at the old manor completely by accident and I am glad I did. Checkin was easy, the room extremely comfortable and better than i expected. As I was on business I chose to eat evening meals and breakfast in the onsite restaurant the food was excellent, some people mention the price being high but you get what you pay for freshly prepared food and there is a good selection. The thing that really makes the old manor a nice place to stay is the staff, all very professional, friendly and bent over backwards to help even when it was busy. I would definitely stay again :-)

Lovely Hotel And Meal
Had a one night stay at the end of a weeks tour of the west country. We had the Eaves Suit which was roomy and very comfortable. The evening meal and breakfast were both of very high quality. The only reason for 4 stars i.p.o. 5 is the restricted parking space. Luckily we managed to get the last available space.

Old Manor House My Second Home
Having a business need to work just out side Bristol for the last 12 months. Travelling for Lancashire I have stayed at TOMH during the week whilst in Bristol. I have found the OMH both welcoming, well appointed in comfort and their restaurant menu comprehensive and well prepared, the bar area is also quaint with a well stocked bar. Having stayed in most of the rooms during my 12 months I can report all are well equipped, comfy and well signalled for wifi. I used the facilities to carry out work with no problems. I would certainly make OMH a base if I returned to the area. Thank you for the attention during my stay.

Every encounter with members of staff was truly friendly and welcoming, and as for the room, it was a lovely find! Approached via narrow stairs, it opened into a very spacious and comfortable set of rooms. The bed was comfortable, as was the lounge area with TV. This is a wonderful hotel full of olde worlde charm. I had room 1 with among other excellent dark wood furniture; and to complete the warm serene ambiance - a four poster bed so spacious and comfortable I just dreamt peacefully from closing eyes to waking in the morning. The delightful Gaby greets you for breakfast, with a pleasant smile and a polite efficiency that exceeds her age. Really really lovely breakfast menu (Chef makes a scrambled egg to die for). Breakfast room is the Restaurant in the evening with a warm open fire to add to the cosiness. Menu not overly extended allowing the Chef to concentrate on creating pure culinary pleasure.

The bar is comfort itself with a large open fire, wide range of drinks, again dark wood furniture and soft cushioned seating, and Staff hospitality the owner should be proud of. Will return.

This is a delightful hotel in a very convenient location. The welcome was warm and friendly, even the resident hound greeted us. Our room was gorgeous, with a super wet-room en suite. Spotlessly clean and comfortable. We enjoyed dinner in the restaurant and breakfast was also very good.

It is 'old', the stairs are steep and if you like 'corporate bland', with the bath and toilet in the middle of the bedroom, this would not be for you. If you like comfort and old-style friendliness, then this is the place to find it.

Ideal For Visiting Bath
We spent two nights at this lovely Hotel. The whole experience was wonderful, from breakfast right through to dinner. The room was spotless and full of character. Kaynsham train station is a five minute walk from the Hotel and only two stops and £4.10 return to the centre of Bath. Wonderful Hotel, wonderful staff and wonderful food, we couldn't have asked for more.

Convenience And Comfort
We enjoyed our stay at the Old Manor House for 3 nights, we had room 1, spacious and with a good sized bathroom, breakfasts were very good especially as were available until 10 am. All the staff were friendly and cheerful. The only downside was being woken at 6.50/ 7am by the sounds of someone sliding and splashing in the bath adjacent to our room. This happened each morning, they were obviously enjoying a long bath as it went on for some time. When we were on a break from early starts to go to work it was a bit annoying to be woken so early.

Every thing else was good so if you want a lie in don't book room 1 on weekdays.

Decent Small Hotel
Stayed mid week at short notice. Room was compact but not small (think it was the last one available)and was comfortable. Surprised by the lack of a shower but it was substituted by a roll top Jacuzzi bath, so fair play. Had a decent quiet nights rest with no complaints. Parking is an issue however with few spaces available.

Didn't use the restaurant or take breakfast so cant comment on the food. Its a quirky old place with bags of character... and quite a few staring old portrait paintings!

Olde Worlde Charm In Buckets
What a delightful hotel and such friendly welcoming staff!!

Having read some of the more negative reviews I was a little concerned about staying at this hotel, but these concerns were unfounded. Ok the taps in the bathroom were a little worn, but everywhere was spotlessly clean, the bed was very comfortable, the food was excellent (such a selection for breakfast I struggled to choose) and as for the building itself....jaw-droppingly gorgeous!

Th Old Manor House Hotel
We were a group of adults who needed to stay overnight in the Bath area. After the normal trawl through Bath Hotels we found The Old Manor House at Keynsham, and what a find. Built 1609 this had character, staff extremely courteous and helpful, great traditional freshly cooked breakfast at a competitive rate. Only downside was parking is limited - I would recommend and stay there again.

First Impressions
A very atmospheric building, retaining many of its original features. The high standard of the decor, fittings, rooms, food & efficiency of the staff, is unquestionable. I've heard some particularly petty comments about the noise from the macerator toilets in some of the rooms.....yes, they can cause a surprise when they start up but they are necessary, as the requirements of the Grade II listing prevents the hotel from installing soil pipes on the front facade of the building. Personally, I applaud the owners for complying with the requirements & maintaining an impressive building in such a faithful condition. Will definitely return.

Great Food At The Old Manor House Hotel
I travel down to Bristol each week and have been staying at one of the large hotel chains in the centre of town but fancied a change this week so stayed at the Old Manor House hotel in Keynsham just 5 miles outside town.

Warm welcome, great beer in the bar, lovely room, and best of all, delicious food. The Chicken Supreme from the Brasserie within thee hotel was top quality. Definitely worth a look if you fancy a pleasant alternative to the cold blandness of a hotel chain, and at better prices too.

Lovely Cosy Hotel In Easy Reach Of Bristol And Bath
The Old Manor House was a great find for me at last minute the night before needing the room. Excellent location just off the A4 between Bath and Bristol, but with a true country inn appealing exterior and with service to match inside. I had a lovely double room with all the mod cons you need carefully disguised by antique style fittings and bathroom. I ate in the bar by choice which was a really nice environment for a single traveller and the warm reception from all staff was appreciated. I chose the ribeye steak which has to be one of the very best I've ever had accompanied by a couple of glasses of first class red wine. A great hotelwhich I intend to use again.16T22:32:40.347Z&fid=00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000001&iru=%2fm%2ffolders.m%3ffid%3d00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000001%26mid%3dm6e8adc4e-82a6-11e3-8e2e-00215ad6a1d2%26adt%3d2014-01-21T14%3a15%3a31.310Z%26dir%3dnext%26pi%3d2&pmid=m20e3f649-81d7-11e3-b30b-00215ad9a392&pmts=2014-01-20T13:31:19.657Z&nmid=m498aad10-7e3b-11e3-9aab-00215ad8194a&nmts=2014-01-15T23:18:09.073Z

It was a pleasure staying at The Old Manor House Hotel. The rooms were clean and the service was excellent. The hotel staff were always helpful and cheerful at all times. Also, I requested a late check-out and was allowed the extension free of charge.

Accommodation
A well presented small hotel. A thousand times better than some of the large hotels in Bath. We will be back on our nextn trip.

Thank you Ian, it is always a pleasure to have you stay with us. I am sorry we were only able to offer a room with a bath on this visit, we will try harder next time.

Overnight Stay
We needed an overnight stay near Bristol and prefer a place with character over the chain Hotels. The Old Manor House was not only cheaper than Travelodge/Premier Inn etc but was more to our taste. Accomodation was basic as dictated by the age of the building, but clean and well presented. The service and food were very good. Would stop there again if we need accommodation near Bristol.

Unhelpful
The hotel was fine . We were doing a cycle race (as were ohters in the hotel) and had to leave at 7.15 . We were told that breakfast would not start until 8 and no attempt was made even to provide us with cereal before we left . Even though we were charged for breakfast we didn't have they wanted to charge us £10 extra to use a shower after the race . Absloutely no good will

Response from Hotel
It isn't often we find reviews to be unfair and totally unfounded however in this case this review is extremely unfair & one sided. Upon booking the room we weren't informed you would be participating in a bike ride, nor that you required storage for 2 bikes or even required an early breakfast. The girl on duty that day accomodated you to the best of her ability, she provided you with dry storage for your bikes at a minutes notice. Breakfast is normally served at 8.30am on a Sunday however cereal & toast is available from 8am. I am shocked that you suggest no good will was given as the same girl came in an hour & a half earlier to accomodate our racers & enabled them to have breakfast (see comments from Robyn Yates) meaning breakfast was made available from 7am so it was your choice to not have breakfast as all our other guests participating in the race enjoyed a coffee, cereals, toasts & a fresh fruit salad. In regards to using our showering facilities, our rooms are deep cleaned between guests - We offered use of our facilities for £10 as it would mean calling in one of our ladies on house keeping to come in & clean the room again before the arrival of our guests. Also we stored your luggage free of charge for the entire day.

Great Little Hotel
On arriving, a lovely welcome and shown to a gorgeous room(6) Love it and was very comfortable there before a cycling event the next day. The two young ladies looking after everything were brilliantly accommodating for an early brekkie combined with our own bits, thank you for that. Only wish service at dinner had been a little quicker but it was very nice when it did arrive. Do not let this put you off staying, the hotel is lovely.

Great Stay
We arrived late and had to leave early but the staff were always at hand to accommodate us.........showing us to our rooms and ensuring we had some breakfast before we left even though we left before breakfast was supposed to be served.

We like older guest houses such, as this one, with period furniture and character and the Old Manor House didn't disappoint.

Would definitely stay again.

Thank you for choosing to stay with us here at the Old Manor House I trust your daughter's graduation went well and the Abbey was not too hot.

Mostly Excellent
This review will inevitably be coloured by the weather when we stayed - on the hottest day of the year, in a room over the kitchen and next to the boiler room, you really don't want to find that the window can only be cracked open an inch. I know hotels have to worry about security, but when the outside temperature has been above 30c all day it really is necessary to throw the windows wide open at night.

Had we not been suffocating we would probably have enjoyed the well-furnished room and the very comfortable bed.

The service was very friendly, helpful and efficient, and the food both at breakfast and dinner was excellent, though given the weather a few more lighter options (salad or a pasta perhaps) on the dinner menu would have been welcome.

The very attractive bar with a huge fireplace and very comfortable chairs and sofas just needs a few decent beers on hand pump to complete the offering. Can't comment on the wine selection as the 'Wine' link on the website appears to be broken and at no point during our stay were we offered sight of a wine list.

So only 4 stars out of 5, but with a few small tweaks this could turn from a very good find for a quick overnight stop, into a destination venue.

Hello Mr Gibbens, Thank you for your kind review. We're sorry you had issues with the windows in your room, Reception would have been more than happy to have assisted. There are air conditioning units in all rooms and a spare at reception should you have required it.

Keynsham Old Manor House
Never stopped here before but tried it as had to stop at last minute and usual hotels in the Bristol area were full. Hotel is in centre of Keynsham, on arrival was a bit worried about lack of parking but there is a space available.

Only a few rooms in an old Manor House but rooms were clean, neat and tidy. service and attention were very good and the meal in the evening excellent, try the steak. Overall a pleasant experience at a reasonable price. Would certainly go there again.

Comfortable Stay
After a few minor problems with our allocated room, we were moved to a quieter, darker room at the back of the hotel. The staff were very helpful and efficient, in particular the manageress on that day. The hotel was immaculately clean and the breakfast very good, even a full English cooked breakfast at no extra cost. Would definitely recommend.

Really Pleased With The Old Manor
We were really pleased with the Hotel. The room was really nice (Eve Suite), lovely comfortable beds and excellent bed linen - the only criticism would be that the room was a little bit chilly and the extra electrical radiator was not working at the time of our stay.

Had meal in the Restaurant and the menu was good and the food was of a high standard. Wine list was very reasonably priced. The breakfast the following morning was really good.

The one thing that I would really compliment the Old Manor House Hotel on was their staff - they were so pleasant and really helpful from booking directly with them, checking in on reception, the bar staff and the staff in the Restaurant.

We would be more than happy to stay there again.

Very Impressed
Myself and my husband have stayed twice before our last visit, to The Old Manor House on 9th February 2013 and we really have enjoyed our stay on both occasions. We brought family and friends plus two young children to stay with us this last time. Everyone in our party was really impressed with the hotel, the appearance, the cleanliness and the friendly staff. They have all said they will stay there again when they come to down to Bristol or Bath.

Short Stay
Interesting / difficult parking arrangements, advance warning of the arrangements would have helped. Bit noise in the room from music extra from downstairs, but did not stop me from falling asleep. Comfortable bed but room size limited and could not find any spare sockets to plug in a charger to. Very good breakfast and easy checkout!

One Night Stay
Sadly it was only one night, a lovely hotel with very friendly staff who went out of there way to ensure a warm welcome after a long journey. We were going to a birthday party nearby so alas could not enjoy what looked like a fabulous dinner menu. The room was warm, quiet and everything required was provided. Very comfortable bed and lovely large white fluffy towels. A real home from home.
